Ion Source Technology
Gas Phase Sources
Our electron impact ion source can produce ions from a number of feed gases including Hydrogen, Helium, Neon, Argon, Xenon and Nitrogen. With optionally available Thoria coated Iridium filaments Oxygen ions can be produced as well. These sources are available in a variety of geometries depending upon the required ion current and final focus size.

Alkali Metal Sources
Sources are available producing Ions of Alkali by surface ionization from a frit containing the material of interest. Ion species of Cs, Li, Na, K and others can be produced. These sources can be integrated into any of our focusing columns.

Solid Phase Sources
By using an oven to evaporate material into the source region of an electron impact ion source ions may be produced from materials that are solid at room temperatures. Ions have been made from Tin and other materials. In addition C60 and other organic ions have been successfully produced. Source lifetimes of 10e4 nA hours are typical.
